Your hotel in Mexico City
Continue to Puebla, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where the majority of buildings are decorated with tiles and beautifully sculpted freestone. See the majestic Cathedral at the main Square, the chapel of the Rosary, considered the eighth wonder of the art world, the convent of Santa Monica and the Onyx and Talavera ceramics factories.
Accompanied by your expert guide, take a trip to Huejotzingo where you will visit the 16th century Convent of San Miguel.
Further on, proceed to the Cholula archaeological zone to visit the largest pyramid in the world. Dedicated to the god of rain, the base of the pyramid is 400 by 360 meters. The Cholua pyramid is not as famous as the Cheops pyramid in Giza because it is buried almost completely under the ground. The Spanish during a conquest noticed a hillock in the centre of the city that hid the pyramid’s base and decided to construct a small church on the top. A few meters of tunnels will give you access to the archaeological zone that is partly uncovered today.
Continue to Puebla, a colonial city that preserves its rich culture and heritage. Along the way, stop for a delicious Mexican buffet lunch, with Mole Poblano as main meal, at a traditional restaurant. Take a walk on Puebla’s beautiful streets and you will see the majestic Cathedral, Main Square, Chapel of the Rosary, Convent of Santa Monica, Onyx craftsmen at work and Talavera ceramic factories.
After exploring Puebla’s architectural works, you will head back to Mexico City.
